Getting out

MW4 DMZ exfil: how to get out with your gear

Extraction is the whole of MW4 DMZ. You deploy, you loot, you try to get back out with it, and the only thing the mode checks at the end is whether you made it. This page covers the extraction methods we could verify, when each one opens, and the mistakes that reliably cost people a run.

The exit is the most dangerous part of the run — and the only part that counts.

The one rule that decides every run

Extract successfully and you keep what you carried out. Fail, and everything in your backpack that is not in a Secure Slot is gone. Every decision in DMZ is downstream of that sentence — including which contracts you take and how full you let your bag get.

The extraction methods

An honest caveat first: the official DMZ page describes extraction in terms rather than naming a list. Its own wording is that "every extraction run into contested territory forces hard choices about which objectives to pursue, what to secure, and when to get out". Official There is no official published enumeration of MW4 DMZ extraction points, so the list below is assembled from community reporting and graded accordingly.

The most methodologically careful source we found is Gfinity, which labels its list with a "Status: Confirmed" block and a "Last Verified: October 20, 2026" date — one day into the early access window.Media report It names three:

The community wiki at modernwarfare4.wiki adds helicopters and Skyhooks to that list, and lists MIA as a third method. That last one deserves a warning: MIA is used two different ways in the sources. The item-system guides describe MIA as the state your Operator is left in after a failed run, where paying a fee rescues them and they return without their gear; the wiki lists it as an extraction method. Both readings cannot be the whole story, and we could not find an official page that settles it.Unconfirmed

If you are looking for the authoritative point-by-point list, the community wiki at modernwarfare4.wiki and the Dexerto wiki both maintain one. We link them in the sources below rather than reproducing a list we cannot verify line by line.

Where it happens

The exit is the most dangerous part of the run

Community guides are consistent about where runs actually end: on the way out, loaded and loud, with the value of everything you are carrying making you a target. Media report The threat levels on the map escalate with the noise you make, which is covered on theHajin map guide.

  • Leave earlier than you want to. During the early access window especially, banking a clean run beats a greedy one, because you may not get many runs.
  • An extraction point is a commitment. Standing in one is a decision to stop gathering and leave. It is not a place you can wait and think.
  • Squads extract together. Splitting up to cover more ground usually splits up the value too.

When you can extract

Extraction points are described as appearing and being available on the map, with different points opening at different moments during a deployment. Media report We could not find an official statement describing a fixed schedule or cooldown for each method, so treat specific timings you read asUnconfirmed until you have seen them yourself.

Secure Slots and dying

Secure Slots are the part of your inventory that survives a failed run. Items in your backpack that are not secured are lost; items in a Secure Slot are not. That rule is the most consistently reported mechanic in DMZ across every source we checked. Media report

The four-container model that sits behind this — Loadout, Backpack, Stash and Secure Slot — has its own page onMW4 DMZ gear.

Mistakes that cost people their gear

These four patterns show up again and again in community discussion about DMZ runs. They are judgement calls rather than rules, so we present them as risks rather than instructions.Media report

Greedy last stopsThe extra POI that looks like a free upgrade is the one that turns a clean run into a wipe. Decide your last target before you enter it.
Loud vehicle extractionDriving in draws attention, and the vehicle carries a fuel and armour limit. A quiet foot exfil is often worth more than a fast one.
Too much unsecured gearCarrying more than you can secure is carrying a loss. The value of a full backpack is not what it is worth — it is what you keep.
Waiting for a better signalAn extraction point with no incoming call is a point that may never call. Deciding to leave is a valid strategy, not a failure.

MW4 DMZ exfil FAQ

How do you extract in MW4 DMZ?
Get to an active extraction point and use it. The methods reported and verified by Gfinity as of October 20, 2026 are Call Extraction Transport at Tac-Map exfil zones, Fulton Extraction Balloons and the Exfil Flare. The official DMZ page does not publish a full list, so each method below is graded by how we know about it.
What happens if I die in MW4 DMZ?
Everything in your backpack that is not in a Secure Slot is lost. Items in a Secure Slot survive. If you extracted before dying, the gear is already yours.
Is there a penalty for dying?
Beyond losing unsecured gear, community sources describe no extra death penalty for the run itself. We could not confirm that from an official source.
Can you extract during DMZ Early Access?
Yes. Early access uses the same extraction loop as the full mode. The window limits how long you have to learn it, not what the rules are.
